I took a long nap after dinner, so I’m getting started on today’s movie late. The squid will be joining me again for movies on the weekend, so I’m letting Prime make suggestions again. Today’s movie is Willard. It was going to be Ben, but Ben is a sequel to Willard and I can’t start with a sequel to a movie I’ve never seen. Anyway it was the rats that drew me in. Dude uses rats to get at his enemies? Reminds me of a book I just read. Piña Coladas and Rats, by Angel Ramon. It’s not the same story, of course, but it sounds like a movie I’d like.
Our boy is a weirdo with a weird family. Honestly they seem delightful. Willard is basically an extrovert, except it’s all inside! Nooo don’t invite the boss. Aww ratty rat. Nice lawnmower. Okay the old lady is kind of annoying. Boss is kind of dick but it’s not unreasonable to expect people to do their work. Idk. Aww look at the rats. Look at him learning their squeak language. Aww baby ratties! Ooh there’s Ben! What a fun dinner party lol. I think we’re at the snapping point. Charlotte’s gonna have a nasty end. Ben’s a feisty boy. Willard sure did take to the rats quickly. Bahaha she got him a cat. An orange girl. Those are rare. What’s he gonna do with that cat? Oh good. I was worried. Dang the rat army has grown. I see why Ben has his own movie. Noooo not Socrates. Come on, Willard. Snap time. There we go. Our boy is getting interesting. I love that Willard is totally cool with telling his horde of rats to tear up a guy but doesn’t have the stomach to watch. Wtf Willard. Fuckin Ben. That was one hell of a glare.
Closing thoughts: lots of build up to not much action, but the ending was great and now I need to watch Ben. That rat was the best actor in this movie.
