I don’t think of Ryan Reynolds when I think of horror, but I do think of offbeat and I feel like this movie is going to be an offbeat comedy horror type thing. It’s been on my watchlist since last year. Let’s do it.
So Jerry’s a special guy. His cat and dog talk to him. He doesn’t pick up on social cues. There definitely some kind of mental illness going on. Seems like a sweet likable guy, yet the girl he’s crushing on actively avoids him. Ugh, even when he accidentally mortally wounds her he’s sweet and apologetic. I suppose it would come off way creepier if he was ugly. Wonder what he did with the body. Oh, nothing yet. Ugh. Why do I want to hug him. I am generally not an I can fix him type. Where’d the blood go? Guess he’s still seeing her as an Angel. Way to leave evidence behind. LOL. Cardboard patch job on his truck. You lie, I already saw you cry twice. Meal prep? Ok this is darker than I expected. And now it’s funny again. This Ryan also looks good in pink. Sidney: is that Ryan Gosling? Me: no, Deadpool not Ken. Sidney: oohh I always mix them up. Everyone does. The banter between the cat and dog is so good. Ah don’t kill the woman who likes you. Holy shit this guy has some trauma. Oh no, don’t go to his house. Loving this little therapy session with the pets and murdered girl head. She fuckin went to his house. Wow. Uh oh. His coworkers figured out his past. He’s not a very smart serial killer picking off women from his workplace. Oh Jerry. What a place to have a therapeutic breakthrough. Took the cops long enough to get there. It was daytime when the guys were snooping around. Whoops, paying too much attention to the movie and not enough to my pattern. Ribbit ribbit 🐸. Therapist asks the cops not to hurt him even after he kidnapped her and scared her half to death. He’s very sick. Yeah he is. Ryan Reynolds is very convincing. I guess he died? And now there’s a cheerful musical number starring all the dead people. Jesus driving a forklift. Ok then.
Closing thoughts: this was darker and way better than I expected. Honestly I expected more laughs, as I expect anything with talking animals to be goofy, but I was pleasantly surprised.
