So tonight’s movie is literally the first one I came across on my nightly browse. Magic is a movie about a ventriloquist played by Anthony Hopkins whose dummy seems to have a mind of its own. Anthony Hopkins? Possessed toy? Yes please. 104 minutes long? Sigh. I guess. It’s a bit long for a possessed toy movie, but I guess.
Was there really ever a time when magicians and ventriloquists were impressive to Hollywood agents. Doubt. Wonder why he’s so against getting a medical exam. Cab driver is being awfully patient driving him all over the place. Well I zoned out for a while. I’m not sure if this is an evil toy or a man with severe mental illness. Oh neat, this is based on a book by William Goldman. Quit being so squirrelly, he’s not gonna finish up a body. Or maybe he is. Relax, dude. Just a log. Oh wait. Eh. Puppet’s got solutions. He’s pretty funny, even if he is just Corky’s mental illness. I guess the movie length makes sense now. That end scene with the puppet is almost sweet.
Closing thoughts: boring 🥱 Okay, it wasn’t bad. It was good even. Just not what I expected. I was in the mood for campy but got drama. That’s not the movie’s fault.
