Books, movies, and other totally normal human things

Day 1 of 31 days of horror: Gog (1954)

Hey sexy mama, wanna kill all humans?

Another year, another October. So begins another 31 days of Horror. I’ve saved a lot of interesting looking films on the various streaming platforms throughout the year, so hopefully I won’t have trouble choosing a movie everyday. As always, these posts will not be reviews. They will be real time reactions followed by my general thoughts about the movie. There may be spoilers. They will all be horror, horror adjacent, or Halloween themed.

Just gonna freeze the little guy alive, huh. No wonder the robots want to kill every scientist in the lab. I’m no scientist, but I’m pretty sure extreme temperature changes like that will not only kill the test subject but also destroy some of the stuff in the big freezer. Ha! Okay. So is it robots or the machinery killing people? Or is it something else entirely. Remember that episode of Star Trek TNG where these scientists are trying to terraform some planet but their lasers keep going rogue and killing the operators? Ugly bags of mostly water. Yeah, I’m invested. Don’t go in, dummy! The brain. They didn’t put much effort into scientific accuracy in these old movies. It’s okay. I still love them. Oh dang! Shattered. Oh I can’t wait until this snooty scientist gets his. Goofy ass robots. Why do they have their giant robot wieners out. Deaths are getting more creative. Still no closer to finding out what’s going on. Too bad they don’t have Data to keep these idiots from getting their brains scrambled. Really, dude. That dinky little pistol isn’t going to kill that robot. A flamethrower? Bro. Oh crap, robot wiener is also a flamethrower 🔥 So…huh. That was stupid. I expected sentient robots. Intelligent computers.

Well, that was certainly a movie. And yeah, I started with horror adjacent. I was expecting robots that turn on their humans, but I got robots being remotely controlled by other humans. It’s okay, this is one of those old movies best viewed MST3K style. I had fun with it.
