If you enjoy the weirder side of BookTok/Bookstagram, you may be familiar with Sylvia Morrow’s sentient object romance books, Stuffed and Double Stuffed. The object in question is our FMC’s favorite pillow that she uses for more than resting her head on as she sleeps. Anne hates being touched and hates the feel of human skin against her own. Physical relations is a no-go for her. But a girl has needs…
While the premise of this series might sound a little silly, it really has a lot going for it. The FMC is a complex character who helps the MMCs adapt to their new existences while coming to terms with her own new role as their partner and liaison to humanity. She learns to cope with some of her insecurities while teaching them how to be people. I loved watching each character find themselves. I could give you a synopsis full of fun details to draw you in, but I think the words sentient pillow and goldfish are enough of a spoiler. While there is some conflict, it is mostly a feel good series full of laughs and warmth.
Let’s talk about the audiobooks for a moment. I absolutely love these narrators. They match their characters perfectly and just really brought them to life.
Whether you’re the wtf did I just read type or the type who actively seeks out the strange and unusual because you love it, this series hits the spot. So much fun I made my own little Carl. Now go read!
