Two, maybe three, months ago, my sister and my kiddo went to see a movie together while I was at work. Shortly after that outing, we signed up for a 99c trial of AMC A-List. We’ve been seeing 3-4 movies a week since then. Last week, we saw Evil Dead Burn. I really enjoyed it and was inspired to rewatch the entire series. So I added them all to my watch list and waited for today. As always, this will be mostly reactions and random thoughts rather than a proper review. As for why I am doing 100 days instead of the usual 31…that’s a subject for another post. I’ll get around to it soon enough. Movie time!
Bruce Campbell is so young! I love the camera work in this movie. I love how the weird shit happening (the swing chair on the porch, the cellar door, the drawing, Ash speaking in tongues) is equal parts spooky and absurd. There’s something about this era of horror movies that I just love. That cellar seems awfully large for that tiny cabin. Heyyyy it’s the BOOM stick. (romantic music playing) I love descriptive captions. Creepy voices coming from outside. Why would you go outside. Whyyy. I mean, I guess they did say “join us.” Yes, go join the pervy trees. Pump the gas, Ash. Yessss here we go. I love how over the top the special effects are. The middle of the night is the perfect time to go outside to bury your demon possessed friend who you just hacked apart with an axe. Makes perfect sense. Poor Ash. Has to kill his friends and his girlfriend. Those death scenes lmao. CGI could never.
It’s been a while since I watched The Evil Dead, but it’s as great as I remember. That’s it. That’s the post.
