The reviews for Other Mommy are not great. People are calling it Temu Coraline and speculating about who would win in a fight, Other Mother or Other Mommy. Let’s be real, Other Mommy would have taken the win. Did you see what she did to the mom’s boyfriend? While some of the criticisms are fair, I didn’t find this movie to be nearly the travesty that many Letterboxd users did. I loved the book on which it is based and I liked the movie well enough, despite some pretty major changes in the story. Jessica Chastain was delightfully creepy. The kid was a surprisingly good actor. If you’re upset that it’s not Coraline…well, it’s not supposed to be. It was good enough.
