Remember when all your favorite children’s characters and stories started going public domain and someone decided to make a slasher movie based on a hunny loving bear? Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Did you know there are two sequels, a Peter Pan movie, and a Bambi movie? And now, Pinocchio. I watched Winnie the Pooh a couple years ago with my brother. After that, we used it as a gauge for how bad a movie is. I had no idea the series continues and I admit I am curious. Those four movies will have to wait for now though, because Pinocchio Unstrung is in theaters right now so that’s the first one I’m going to watch. No reactions because theater.
So. This was bad, but in a fun way. The puppetry was pretty impressive. There are clips of them filming some scenes in the credits that made me appreciate that a bit more. There were some things that I expected to see, but were left out (Pinocchio collecting certain parts or weaponizing his nose more). I found it overall entertaining. And the best part is that it was the proper length for a movie like this.
