This movie has been on my watchlist a while now. Every cover and screenshot I’ve seen looks brutal af. Somehow I never noticed that this is based on a Jack Ketchum book, which tells me that it will spare no detail and it will likely be both gruesome and thought provoking. Let’s go!

Feral looking woman bleeding alone in the woods. Interesting. Raised by wolves? Ugh. Teach your sons to be better people. Pretty sure hunting includes some kind of tracking, not just pointing your gun randomly until you find something. Where’d she get clothes from if she was raised by wolves. Who the hell sees a dirty woman bathing in a river and decides to knock her out and tie her up in the barn. Yeah, Chris. Why are we doing this. YES. More of that, please. Now go explain that to your wife. She is gonna fuck him up when she gets loose and I can’t wait. Why is the boy so excited about this.

So. That was wild. I hated the soundtrack. It kinda changed the whole mood of the movie and made it almost comedic. Absurd, I guess. A better score would have made this much more impactful. The dad was something else. He reminded me of those Will Ferrell skits on SNL where he’s the super intense dad. And I’m still not quite sure what was going on with the dogs. I liked it though. The woman kicked ass.
