It’s been a minute since I browsed HBO Max. I found this one marked as “just added”, and of course I was drawn in by the visage of Vincent Price. A brief googling shows that Charles Bronson and Carolyn Jones are also in this movie. Neat. The synopsis describing this as the story of a sculptor filling his wax museum with corpses sealed the deal. I’m in. It’s late and I want to crochet while I watch, so no real time reactions.
That was pretty great. I do love a good Vincent Price movie. The score was a little much for my liking, but that’s just how movies of this era tend to be. I will say that there wasn’t much build up between the sculptor nearly burning to death and him deciding to rebuild using corpses. No build up, actually. I guess we are to assume that since his hands were badly scarred and useless for sculpting, the next logical choice was to dip corpses in wax and dress them up instead. Whatever. It was entertaining.
